My Immunization Record Now
Simplifying how families access and share immunization records
Parents are frequently asked to provide immunization records to schools, camps, and other organizations, often on short notice. The process typically requires contacting a healthcare provider, locating the correct documentation, and submitting records through a separate system. These tasks are infrequent but often time-sensitive, making them frustrating when information is difficult to find.
I worked on the design of a responsive web experience that allows individuals to securely retrieve immunization records from participating healthcare providers and share them electronically with schools and camps.
The challenge
The experience needed to bridge healthcare systems, schools, camps, and families while remaining intuitive for users who might only access it occasionally. Beyond simplifying record retrieval and sharing, the design needed to accommodate real-world family dynamics, including multiple dependents and caregivers with different responsibilities and access needs.
Key design goals included:
Simplifying access to verified immunization records
Helping users confidently review and share health information
Supporting household-based management of multiple family members
Balancing caregiver collaboration with appropriate permission controls
Delivering a consistent experience across desktop and mobile devices
Connect
-
Users first establish a connection with their healthcare provider and retrieve their immunization records.
-
The design focused on reducing uncertainty during account linking and helping users understand where their information was coming from.
Review
-
Before sharing records, users can review the information that was retrieved.
-
The goal was to present health data in a way that was easy to scan and verify without overwhelming users with unnecessary detail.
Manage
-
Provide a household view that enables caregivers to manage immunization records for multiple family members in one place.
-
Allow records to be shared across multiple caregivers with appropriate permission levels, while maintaining clear navigation between individual family member profiles.
